Saba

Marty and I walked down here (Emory village location).  I tried the pumpkin ravioli, Marty had the spaghetti and meatballs.  I wouldn't order the ravioli again, not sure it was the right dinner choice.  Marty LOVED his meal.  Overall I would rate it mediocre, relaxed atmosphere (no waiter, you order at the counter), more expensive than I would like but u know.  Marty says, food was fine but the place was nothing special.  We probably won't go back.  Wah.  First not great review.  I feel bad.

Sawicki's

Kevin has told us about this place for a while, and we had a scoutmob so we headed over to see what it was all about.  First we all got to pick really awesome drinks...see below.

Unfortunately they were out of the meatball sandwich, which sounded awesome for Marty, but here is what we got.  We were more than impressed.  The bread was soo good.  Sara and I got a "salsa verde" sauce on our sandwiches - YUM!  Not like salsa mexican salsa, but some vinegar etc with capers.  Yum.

Turkey with avocado, tomato, lettuce mix, salsa verde.

The veggie with hummus, some veggies...etc, salsa verde

Marty's sandwich beef tips with aoli sauce and french fries.

Awesome.

Yogli Mogli

I feel silly writing a review for yogurt but whatever.  Headed here (the one in Emory Village) after a stop at Wonderful World of Burgers.  We were walking so it was great to have a treat to eat while walking.  The first time I had this new yogurt thing, I got chocolate and was disappointed.  It was sour.  What the heck.  Then someone suggested I try fruit, and I love it!  Love fruit.  I think this was strawberry kiwi.  The cost is by weight which is nice if you just want a small treat you dont have to buy a ton.

EAV famers market

Dana:
"Delicious crepe wrap from crepe masters cart at eav farmers market (thurs 4-8). Chicken, pesto, goat cheese, tomato. Very tasty. $8 was most expensive on menu of about 5 entrees and 5 dessert choices. Walked over to another stand for fresh peaches and there's an awesome ice cream truck there (darn, need to review their amazing homemade icecream sandwiches). Good produce at good prices plus dinner; what's not to like?"

"another EAV farmer's market food review!  this time we got a white and a sausage and pepper pizza from s&j's woodfired pizza. they have a fire pit on a hitch and can be found at various fms (see schedule on their fb page). yummy, but $8 each. good for a bite while you're shopping. you can also get full sized pies, but not sure the cost. homemade with local ingredients makes it a winner to me. get a bag of peaches or icecream at the next stand over for dessert. EAVFM is where it's at."

Il localino

Another post from Dana

"Awesome italian place that's typically too expensive for a regular night out but use the scoutmob!
Had the spinach canalloni special with veal and ricotta. Wow! Best ricotta ever: smooth and creamy! Delicious bread served with herbed butter and oil/pesto. And strong cocktails to boot. The crazy music and hats (yes, hats!) Just top it off nicely. Was too full for dessert.
(on a previous visit i had veal parm and it was very delicious )"

Wonderful World of Burgers and More

Not sure what burger this is...but looks delish and fries

Wonderful world of burger and a grilled cheese

Onion rings

So the overall consensus was great.  Nothing over 5 bucks on the menu.  Relaxed atmosphere.  Nice to have a normal sized burger for once, so you dont feel disgusting when you are done eating.  Onion rings also got rave reviews.  I will (and do) go back.  Would love to bring anyone.

Ormsby's

I have heard from many people that this is a neat place to go to.  We headed there for dinner on a Friday night.

Step one.  Cool beer glasses

Step 2: Boiled peanuts.  I didnt realize how common this is in restaurants as an app.  This was really good.  They had cajun style but we did not want to try this.

Step 3: Dinner.  Shrimp salad sandwich?

Steak Salad

Chicago style dog

Turkey wrap etc.  Clearly the lighting was not good for pictures.  BUT the food was wonderful.  We all loved our foods.

Step 4: Play some games downstairs.

Overall.  Fun place.  A bit "preppy" but has lots of options and lots of fun things to do.  Really unique place.

olivia's cafe in EAV

This post is our first from an outside contributer (thanks Dana!)

"decided to try this place after i found out they are now open for dinner (previously have heard about the yummy weekend breakfast). went there after the thursday night EAV market (4-8pm across from midway). good chicken kabob. veggies ok, but covered in a good curry; strange but good. my friend liked the grilled tilapia and her garlic potatoes were really good. reasonably priced and a good alternative as non-bar food in the village. big portions: the photos is about half of what i was served, and is my lunch for today. very nice staff and the owner came by to make sure everything was ok and ask if we had any suggestions for improvement since dinner is new for them! i'll definitely be back to try the breakfast."

Atkins Park

We got to share a wonderful meal here with Sara's family as we celebrated her GRADUATION!  It was a great atmosphere, we sat on the patio which was a narrow patio between two restaurants.  In a table of 11 (?) we all ordered 4 dishes.  Everyone seemed very satisfied.  Below is the portabella sandwich ordered by 3.
Warning: if you order shots, they come in paper medicine cups.  Strange.

Overall we would rate this place "Loved going with friends"

Bobby G's Chicago Eatery

Had a scoutmob for this place, and wanted to try it because, duh its got Chicago food.  We had our first Chicago dog (see below) - it was excellent.  Watch out for the sport peppers.  Pizza was good, according to Marty - solid Chicago style thin crust. Overall we rate this place "Would go back with friends"
